Overview

Rara Lake (often called the "Queen of Lakes") is Nepal’s largest and deepest freshwater lake, nestled in the remote Karnali region within the Mugu District.

Geography & Altitude: It sits at an elevation of 2,990 meters (9,810 feet) above sea level. The oval-shaped lake spans approximately 10.8 square kilometers with a maximum depth of 167 meters.

Murma Top: A popular hiking destination near the lake. A trek up to Murma Top offers a breathtaking, bird’s-eye panoramic view of the entire lake and the distant Himalayan ranges.

  • Journey: Early morning pickup from Mahendranagar. Drive along the Karnali Highway enjoying scenic river valleys and hillside views, heading towards Kalikot.
  • Night Stop: 1st Night at Manma, Kalikot

  • Distance: Approx. 95 - 110 km (rough mountain track) Drive Time: 5–6 hours
  • Journey Details: After breakfast, head out from Manma via Nagma, navigating through scenic mountain terrain into Mugu district. Conclude with a short trek/drive segment to reach the gorgeous shores of Rara Lake.
  • Night Stop: 1st Night at Rara Lake

  • Activities: Zero driving distance. Full day dedicated to exploring Nepal’s largest and deepest lake. Enjoy boating on the pristine turquoise waters, take a peaceful lakeside walk,

  • A free date change is allowed once if requested 7 or more days before departure, subject to availability.
  • The booking amount is credited to your Payla profile as a credit note with no expiry and can be used on any future trip.
  • Any taxes or payment-gateway charges on a transaction are non-refundable.
  • Pending refunds are processed within 5–7 working days to the original payment method.

Payment Policy

  • A 25% advance (booking amount) confirms your seats and travel dates.
  • The remaining balance is due before the trip begins — on the pick-up day at the latest.
  • Pay by bank transfer, eSewa, Khalti, PhonePe or cash at our Mahendranagar office.
  • A valid photo ID (citizenship / passport) is required to confirm every booking.
  • Group & custom trips may follow a tailored payment schedule shared at the time of booking.
