If you live anywhere near Mahendranagar, Nainital is closer than most people realise — and Kainchi Dham, the ashram of Neem Karoli Baba (whose devotees include Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, among many others), sits right on the way. This is our most-booked short break for exactly that reason: big destination, small time commitment.
The Basic Route
We cross the border, drive toward Nainital via Nanak Matta Sagar (a good stop for a look at the reservoir and its Gurudwara), reach Nainital for lakeside time and Kainchi Dham darshan, then loop back via Bheemtal.
1N/2D vs. 2N/3D
Our simplest package is a 1-night, 2-day trip — receive from Mahendranagar, overnight in Nainital, darshan and sightseeing the next day, drop back same evening. If you have a little more time, our 2N/3D version adds a Shuklaphanta jeep safari on either end, picking up or dropping from Dhangadhi Airport instead — useful if you're flying in from Kathmandu.
What You'll See
- Kainchi Dham — Neem Karoli Baba's ashram; quiet meditation space and darshan
- Naina Devi Temple — lakeside, walking distance from the Mall Road
- Naini Lake — boating (optional, extra)
- Mall Road, Tibetan Market & Bhotiya Market — for shopping and a proper hill-station evening walk
Group Pricing
As with most of our India-side trips, per-person cost drops significantly with group size. Our 1N/2D Nainital package runs from around NPR 16,200 per person for a pair up to about NPR 9,500 per person for a group of six — worth coordinating with family or friends if you can.
What's Not Included
Boating, zoo entry and any inside-Nainital sightseeing beyond what's listed are extra and paid locally; personal expenses and entrance fees are also excluded. Everything else — the MAP plan (dinner, breakfast, room) and pick-up/drop — is covered.
See the Nainital & Neem Karoli Dham package or our combined Shuklaphanta + Nainital 2N/3D option if you want both in one trip.
